Jay Chernoff’s curious bromance with mayor Michael “Contempt of Congress” Joseph

We’re old enough to remember the North Miami Beach 2022 municipal election, when residents recruited Jay Chernoff to run against the abominable Paule Villard in the hopes of taking their city back from the criminals running their government.

Jay was at best a mediocre candidate, but he accepted the challenge however daunting it appeared to be.

Chernoff had previously served as a Councilman from 1989 to 2007, so we here at VotersOpinion did our best to trash Paule on a daily basis and beef up his resume, giving him full credit for all the accomplishments he had nothing to do with.    Jay did little more than vote for whatever his then-colleagues on the dais proposed so he could collect the lifetime health insurance benefit that they all voted to give themselves.

Jay may not have stood out for any great achievements in those eighteen years of “service,” but he managed to avoid controversy at all costs.

Until now, that is.

His 2022 campaign consultant didn’t have much to work with, but still managed to make him electable in his campaign ads.

During the 2022 campaign, Jay resumed his duties as a warm body that was propped up by the residents who wore holes in their shoes walking the entire city day after day to get him elected.

Aside from making Paule Villard a one-term-and-good-riddance elected official, all that hard work was sadly for naught.

From almost the minute Jay was sworn in, he voted AGAINST every single thing that the residents put him in office to legislate.

In Jay Chernoff, what the bloody hell were you thinking?, we listed all the stupid stuff he’s done since he started warming that seat on the dais, culminating in his inexplicable refusal to vote in favor of a censuring the Devil on the Dais, Michael “Contempt of Congress” Joseph on March 26, 2026.

The straw that broke the camel’s back, however, was at the August 27, 2026 Commission Meeting when Jay voted AGAINST a Resolution No. R2026-118 terminating the incompetent City “Attorney” Joe Geller, and appointing Steven W. Zelkowitz, PA, as Interim City Attorney.

In a 3-4 vote, Jay sided with Michael “Contempt of Congress” Joseph, and his co-conspirators on the dais, McKenzie Fleurimond and Daniela Jean — and so the motion died.

Along with, we hope, Jay’s political career.

Every single North Miami Beach resident were aghast that Jay would vote to keep the second worst and most corrupt municipal “lawyer” in the city’s history (the first being Hans “Strip Mall Lawyer” Ottinot).

The only explanation that made any sense at the time, was that Jay was desperate to get the endorsement of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party, of which Joe Geller is on the Executive Committee.

In retrospect, it also appeared to explain Jay’s refusal to vote to rightfully censure Michael “Contempt of Congress” Joseph, since the Demonic One is the First Vice Chair of the party’s Executive Board.

If Jay aimed to get the coveted endorsement by sucking up to both Michael and Joe, we can only imagine how horrified he must have been when the only North Miami Beach “candidate” to receive the party’s endorsement is carpetbagger Linda Joseph.

The fact that the Miami-Dade Democratic Party endorsed a nasty, psychopathic liar like Linda Joseph over a cheerful, hapless goofball like Jay Chernoff, speaks volumes about the party’s priorities.

But we digress.

In any event, either there is something more than meets the eye with Jay’s infatuation of Michael “Contempt of Congress” Joseph, or it is exactly what it looks like.

You be the judge.

If Jay thought that his obsessive man crush would keep Michael from recruiting someone to run against him, he was sadly mistaken.

On August 11, 2026, Michael’s newest puppet commissioner, Jasmine Alise Joseph, a/k/a Jasmine Rivera, a/k/a Jasmine Rivera Joseph, entered the race.

In fact, Mayor Contempt of Congress, who is comfortably nestled in the pocket of Big Development, was instrumental in securing $5,000.00 each in campaign contributions from five Dezer Development-related companies for his three hand-picked candidates, Ariel Vasquez, Linda Joseph, and Jasmine Alise Joseph, a/k/a Jasmine Rivera.

Even though Michael did not include Jay in the Dezer “endowments” when he was doling out campaign donations, for some strange reason Jay still didn’t get the memo that his love is unrequited.

Then again, Jay is only slightly more intelligent than the dim-witted Linda Joseph.

“Slightly” being the operative word here.

For example, Jay believes his own press so much, that he has resorted to behaving as badly as Linda does.

As we reported in North Miami Beach Commissioner Jay Chernoff’s re-election campaign is going about as well as can be expected. 😆:

Instead of taking constructive criticism and trying to work things out with his friends and supporters, Jay did a 180 and transformed into a nasty backbiter, lashing out at anyone and everyone — and very publicly on Facebook!

On September 2, 2026, Jay responded to criticism by viciously attacking NMB resident, and his long time friend, Bruce Lamberto, who spent countless hours at the polls during the 2022 election drumming up votes for him.

On top of that faux pas, several days ago this blogger wrote an email addressed to all of the North Miami Beach elected officials, and Jay stupidly responded with this Linda Joseph-like retort:

As you might expect, I responded in kind:

Even as Jay Chernoff goes on the attack against North Miami Beach residents, business owners, and even this blogger, he seems to have forgotten who his friends are and who the real enemies are.

All he needs to do is look back at the 2022 election as a reminder of exactly who are the criminals who did this.

But hey, Jay.

Wave to your new BFFs as you pass by them on the campaign trail without you.

And give Michael “Contempt of Congress” a hug and a kiss from your former friends and supporters for taking you off our hands.

North Miami Beach residents deserve better!

PLEASE VOTE RESPONSIBLY!

  1. He filled a vacancy that no other North Miami Beach resident was willing to fill when the search was on for someone to challenge Mall Cop Villard. Jay Chernoff was the only one who stepped up to the plate. But getting him from the cellar to the World Series took a whole lot of effort from people who weren’t exactly enthusiastic fans. While residents and fellow candidates were out pounding the pavement, Jay was either in his pool or watching TV. People practically had to drag him into the streets to campaign.

Jay won. We thought we finally had the majority on the dais needed to clean up City Hall. But Jay didn’t work with the other three to make that happen. Instead, he voted for a multimillion-dollar, no-bid trolley contract, opposed bringing the legal department in-house, and failed to support censuring Mayor Michael Joseph for his outrageous treatment of city employees. There was an opportunity to hold the mayor accountable for his conduct right here at home, and Jay didn’t step up. Now, we’re left with that same mayor facing Contempt of Congress.

Apparently, contempt comes in different forms. One is Contempt of Congress. The other is the contempt people feel when someone they helped elect seems to forget who helped get him there, and what he was elected to do.

    1. The weird thing is that Jay doesn’t even seem to understand why residents are upset with him. Is he that brain damaged that he has no clue what he’s done to upset people, especially those of us who worked so hard to get him elected in the first place.

Aside from the fact that Paule Villard was vile and a disgrace to the city, and anyone should have been able to easily oust her from her seat, it was not easy getting Jay off his ass and and out there campaigning for himself. I think the bigger issue was that voters despised Paule more than they wanted Jay. That worked only to a point. Instead of being grateful and eager to undo all the damage that Michael & Co. did in the previous two years, Jay fell all over himself to befriend the enemy.

He lit the fire and now asks, “Why is everyone running away?”

Hopefully, his days are numbered and Whitney WINS!
