If Mike “Michael” Joseph wanted to be “famous,” he got his wish.

This current, and by far the most corrupt, occupant of the mayoral seat in North Miami Beach has found dubious notoriety far, far away from the five square mile hellhole he created in South Florida.

His first dishonorable mention in Washington, DC came from the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ethics which named him specifically in a December 16, 2025 report of its investigation of Michael’s good friend, the now EX-Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick.

According to that report and another one issued on January 29, 2026 by the Office of Congressional Ethics, which we also told you about, Michael Joseph is implicated in a diabolical money laundering scheme to funnel foreign funds from Haiti through his political committee into Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign.  Despite being served with multiple subpoenas by the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics, Michael has “declined to provide requested information” and “refused to cooperate with the OCE’s review.”

The South Florida EX-legislator resigned last Tuesday moments before she was about to be sanctioned and possibly expelled from Congress.  As is typical of shameless politicians, Cherfilus-McCormick filed to run for re-election four days before she was forced out of office.

Michael Joseph is quickly becoming as infamous as his ethically challenged, and potentially convicted, friend who was humiliated out of the nation’s capital.

While the House of Representatives has no jurisdiction over anyone who is not a member of Congress, Michael Joseph is subject to investigation by local authorities, including both the Miami-Dade County and the State of Florida Commissions on Ethics, as well as the Miami State Attorney.

While Katherine Fernandez Rundle’s Office is currently investigating Michael for a number of allegations, we have no reasonable expectation that she will actually prosecute the obviously corrupt Michael Joseph since he is a bona fide member of her “protected class.”

Michael Joseph has been the “star” of several unflattering local news articles, especially since the February 16, 2026 Interim Investigative Report prepared by Algo Law Firm was made public.

Even more recently, in Channel 10’s North Miami Beach commissioners demand mayor repay $3K travel upgrade, consider reprimand, Michael is in the hot seat once again, this time for having to be forced into repaying the sum of $3,001.90 for the illegal reimbursement of his first class travel to Japan.

The article reported:

“City records show the reimbursement was issued Dec. 4, 2025, but a later internal review found the expense fell outside the parameters of Florida law and city policy governing travel spending, according to a letter sent to the mayor.

In that April 1 letter, the city demanded repayment within 30 business days, stating the upgrade was not authorized and must be personally covered.

By the April 21 commission meeting in North Miami Beach, the money still had not been repaid, prompting Vice Mayor Fortuna Smukler to introduce a resolution to reprimand the mayor.”

This is not the first time that Michael has made negative headlines in out local news outlets.

But it is the first time that NMB’s Devil on the Dais has become an international disgrace.

On April 21, 2026, New York City’s Junto Reports LLC, published an article through its worldwide news service, Light Wave, Florida Mayor Accused of Tampering With Records Avoids Formal Reprimand, and reported:

“The vote to formally reprimand North Miami Beach Mayor Michael Joseph failed. The investigation into him did not.

By a narrow 3-4 margin, the North Miami Beach City Commission voted against censuring Mayor Joseph on March 26 — sparing him a formal public rebuke after an independent investigation found his actions may have put the city at what investigators described as “substantial legal, financial and ethical risk.”

The censure failing doesn’t mean the matter is closed. Far from it.”

The article then referenced Algo Law Firm’s Interim Investigative Report, which “documented a series of allegations against the mayor that, taken together, paint a picture of a local official who allegedly used his position to manipulate official processes, steer city contracts, and stick taxpayers with personal expenses.”

Furthermore, Light Wave went on to report:

“Among the most serious findings: at least one city employee told investigators that Mayor Joseph called him and asked him to disconnect recording equipment and edit official recordings of job interviews for the city manager position. If accurate, that allegation goes beyond an ethics violation — altering official government records is a potential violation of Florida’s public records laws.

The report also questioned thousands of dollars in public money spent on a first-class travel upgrade during a city trip to Japan, and alleged the mayor inappropriately influenced which vendors were selected for city contracts — including a company connected to an ongoing ethics investigation into U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, for whom Joseph had been conducting fundraising activities.

Joseph denied all of it.”

Of course, he did.

Despite the mountains of evidence uncovered over the years by VotersOpinion, and now Algo Law Firm, the duplicitous Michael Joseph has NEVER admitted guilt for a single one of his many crimes, ethical lapses, or Charter violations.

Michael Joseph constantly blames everyone else for his multiple felonies and misdemeanors, but in reality he is the consummate liar, cheat, and crook.

Sure thing, Tricky Dick.

The Light Wave article described in great detail the commission’s proposed March 26, 2026 Resolution of Censure, as well as Michael Joseph’s defense by his personal shyster, Sham Lawyer Luis E. Suarez.

And as we also told you, the much-needed Resolution failed by a vote of 3-4 when Commissioner Jay Chernoff chose corruption over good governance.

The Light Wave reporter, however, saw through the duplicity, and closed his article with the following:

“The censure’s failure doesn’t remove Joseph from office — a censure is a formal statement of disapproval, not a removal mechanism. What actually determines his political fate is what the State Attorney’s Office and the Florida Commission on Ethics decide to do with the referral. If either body determines the allegations rise to the level of criminal conduct, Joseph’s position becomes significantly more precarious.

For North Miami Beach residents, the situation is exactly what it looks like: a mayor under active investigation by state ethics and law enforcement authorities, still in office, still denying everything, with no resolution in sight.”

Michael Joseph’s latest shenanigans and refusal to obey the law is just one of the many, many reasons we are reminded that he is unfit to be a public official, much less a mayor.

The voters of North Miami Beach should seriously consider embarking on a recall election because two and half more years of this criminal sitting on the dais will do permanent, irreparable harm to your government.
