Here’s a handy dandy reminder why NMB mayor Michael Joseph earned the title “Devil on the Dais.”

It’s a month late, but as promised, let’s talk about the February 17, 2026 City Commission Meeting, when mayor Michael Joseph, a/k/a the Devil on the Dais, slithered in nearly two hours late in an apparent attempt to avoid facing the music.

In a previous blog, we told you about an Interim Investigative Report prepared by Algo Law Firm, LLC, which was hired to investigate corruption on the dais.

As expected, the only elected official who ended up on the hot seat was Michael Joseph for the obvious reason that he is one of the top three dirtiest politicians in the history of North Miami Beach, right up there with a former mayor whose name shall not be mentioned here and EX-North Miami Beach Commissioner Frantz Pierre.

But don’t just take my word for it.  Let’s hear from NMB residents who had plenty to say about Michael during Public Comment, which began at minute 56:48 of the meeting video.

As is customary, at the beginning of Public Comment, the City Clerk reminds speakers that there is a Pledge of Civility in place, which reads:

A resolution was adopted by the Mayor and City Commission of the City of North Miami Beach recognizing the importance of civility, decency, and respectful behavior in promoting citizen participation in a democratic government. The City of North Miami Beach calls upon all residents, employees, and elected officials to exercise civility toward each other. (Resolution Nos. R2007-57, 11/06/07 and R2011-22, 4/26/11)

The first speaker, Karen Harrold, specifically referred to a section on every Agenda right beneath Paragraph 6. Public Comment, a message entitled, To All Citizens Appearing Under Public Comment, and which clearly states:

The Commission has a rule which does not allow discussion on any matter which is brought up under Public Comment. We are, however, very happy to listen to you. The reason for this is that the Commission must have Staff input and prior knowledge as to the facts and figures, so that they can intelligently discuss a matter. The Commission may wish to ask questions regarding this matter, but will not be required to do so. At the next or subsequent Commission meeting you may have one of the Commissioners introduce your matter as his or her recommendation. We wish to thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. Under no circumstances will personal attacks, either from the public or from the dais, be tolerated.

Ms. Harrold emphasized the last sentence, which reads, “Under no circumstances will personal attacks, either from the public or from the dais, be tolerated.”

She then reminded the attendees that a Special Commission Meeting was held on February 2, 2026 for the purpose of approving Resolution No. R2026-13 for the new City Manager’s Employment Agreement.

She then said, “During Public Comment [of the Special Commission Meeting], a Commissioner asked the City Attorney if we had to allow the speakers from outside our community that leveled accusations, judgments, and negative comments about an individual that was already hired to be our City Manager to continue.  These speakers mentioned our City Manager by name — that’s a personal attack and should have been stopped, according to our rules for public speaking.  Our City Attorney said it was ‘free speech.’  While out on the street this might be true, inside the Commission Chamber during an official Special Meeting this violates the rule for Public Comment.”

Ms. Harrold was referring to the rowdy ruckus at North Miami Beach City Hall, replete with proverbial pitchforks and torches, that was orchestrated by the classless, scum sucking bottom feeder occupying the mayoral seat.

Since Michael Joseph has made it perfectly clear that he did not want Darvin Williams to be hired as the City Manager, it should come as no shock that he intended to make the Special Commission Meeting as painful for Mr. Williams, his colleagues, and anyone else who supported he City’s newest hire.

Yes, he is that evil.

As he has done countless times over the years, Michael had summoned his Surrogate Army to speak and attack all of Michael’s perceived enemies.

Furthermore, during her public comment Ms. Harrold recounted.  “The violation of this rule occurred again during the mayor’s point of personal privilege talk.  He personally attacked two individuals by name and this was not stopped.  A Commissioner did ask at the beginning of the mayor’s talk if it was germane to the meeting agenda and he answered ‘it was.’  Speaking about personal feelings or opinions is one thing.  Personally attacking by name individuals is not only not germane, it’s not in line with the rules for speaking in the Commission Chamber.  Please remember that it’s the residents that voted for the elected officials into office that they believed would best serve them and put the needs of our City over personal needs or agendas.”

We are not surprised that he besmirched his arch enemies, former Mayor Anthony DeFillipo and former Commissioner Barbara Kramer, at that meeting for no apparent reason other than because he had control of the meeting and the microphone.

Please watch the rest of Public Comment after Ms. Harrold to listen to even more residents speak their unredacted thoughts about the Devil who is occupying the mayoral seat.

Several other speakers also brought up Michael’s recent false allegation that Barbara Kramer “threatened his life.”

This is certainly not Michael’s first rodeo making false accusations.

In 2019, he falsely claimed someone left a voicemail on his phone threatening him and his family.  Although he claimed that he saved the voicemail, he never reported it to the police.  I made a public record request for this alleged “saved” voicemail, but it mysteriously vanished.

A year later, he falsely accused then-Mayor Anthony DeFillipo of “driving up and down [his] street.” The Mayor literally lived two blocks from Michael and responded that he had been “seeking an address [of] a resident who lived in their neighborhood.”

As an encore, at the January 20, 2026 Commission Meeting, after losing his fight to appoint his toady Marline Monestime as City Manager, followed by the Commission’s vote to hire an outside law firm to investigate the government, he was obviously not a happy camper.  Barbara Kramer couldn’t resist the opportunity to approach him after the meeting to gloat.

According to the fraudulent police report filed by Michael Joseph, he falsely claimed that Barbara Kramer said, “I’m going to get you!  I’m going to hurt you and there’s nothing the police can do about it.”

Michael even recruited Surrogate Army member, Black Supremacist Linda Joseph Noel, to say she was a “witness.”

Lyin’ Linda told police that Barbara “began verbally assaulting Mayor Joseph” even though she neither saw nor heard any such thing.

The next day, Michael further embellished the imaginary incident by telling a Miami Times reporter, “The nature of her statements caused me to stop and turn around, fearing an imminent attack.  Ms. Kramer was directly behind me and held her hand in a threatening manner, which led me to believe she might have been carrying a weapon.”

In her statement to the police, Barbara said that she went up to Michael and said, “Are you happy?  I’m happy they’re going to start looking into you.  I’m also happy that the Commissioners hired a new City Manager.”

When Michael raised up his hands, Barbara then said, “What are you going to do?  Get more police detail because I’m talking to you?”

She brought up “police detail” because due to his mental and emotional afflictions, Michael has always been extremely paranoid, and he insists on using North Miami Beach police officers as his personal bodyguards and chauffeurs, despite the fact that the Commission put a stop to that practice a while back.

Not that he cares about being responsible with taxpayer money or he wouldn’t have spent $7,000 on airfare alone on a completely unnecessary trip to Japan.  This taxpayer-funded vacation, passed by Resolution R2025-86, was not on the Agenda for the June 17, 2025 Commission Meeting.  Yet it somehow magically appeared in the Minutes under the Consent Agenda, and described as:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RESCHEDULING THE SEPTEMBER CITY COMMISSION MEETING FROM SEPTEMBER 16, 2025, TO SEPTEMBER 8, 2025, TO ACCOMMODATE THE CITY MAYOR’S AND THE CITY COMMISSION’S ATTENDANCE AT THE 2025 US-JAPAN SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT TAKING PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2025 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 19, 2025; AND AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE FUNDS TO PAY FOR REGISTRATION AND TRAVEL AND LODGING FOR ATTENDEES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SCRIVENER ERRORS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

The Resolution passed 4-3 with Commissioner Phyllis Smith, Commissioner Fortuna Smukler, and Commissioner Lynn Su opposed.

But, yet again, we digress.

We could go on and on and on about Michael Joseph’s corruption, psychosis, paranoia, and jealousy of normal people, but we’d only be repeating everything we’ve already said in the last eight years.

In any event, we can only hope that the authorities, whether it’s the Florida Ethics Commission, the State Attorney’s Office (yeah, right LOL!), the Florida Bar, or any other agency to receive a complaint, will finally take the allegations seriously and finally dole out the punishment he so rightfully deserves.

  1. Steph….I did a Public Records Request after the mayor returned from his needless trip to Japan and was sent a tally sheet showing $6684 for his First Class airline ticket, his hotel room, and his per diem meals. I subsequently found out that the slime ball turned in another credit card receipt for reimbursement that he paid $3000 for a private cabin in the first class section of the aircraft. This makes the total cost of his trip to Japan almost $10,000. There was absolutely NO BENEFIT to any of the residents of the City of NMB. He just wasted $10k of our money for his own personal ego and benefit. More proof that this AH is unfit for pubic office.

    1. I also made a PRR for that trip, but since I only did that yesterday it will be a while until I get a response. Thanks for that information, though. At least I won’t have sticker shock when the records come in.

From what I can tell so far, this trip was a complete waste of money, especially considering the financial deficit the city has been in since Duke Sorey raped the government coffers and got away with it. Never forget that it was Demon Michael Joseph who brought that piece of shit to the city and was able to appoint him as City Manager when he had a criminal majority on the dais.

      NEVER FORGET IT!

    2. Why is this allowed, and who approved this? How is the trip, and especially the cabin upgrade, a benefit to the citizens of North Miami Beach? If elected officials didn’t know about this, if they read this, they’ll know now. They need to demand an investigation to see how this occured. It’s a blatant waste of our money.

          1. It hasn’t ended since the day this corrupt POS was elected. He is one evil MF!

  2. If the dirtbag mayor doesn’t get charged in the Scherflous McCormack case for his assistance in helping her in the Federal money laundering charges or for his bid rigging activities since he was elected, it’s time to do a recall of this POS. The residents and taxpayers deserve better. It will only take about 1500 petition signatures to get it on a ballot. The deadline for turning it in is August 1st for the November election. We can do this.

    1. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s House ethics hearing is today at 2:00 pm. (www.cbsnews.com/news/sheila-cherfilus-mccormick-house-ethics-committee-trial-fema-funds/). Even though the US House of Representatives has no jurisdiction over local public officials, especially peon mayors of little cities like NMB, his involvement in the laundering of illegal campaign money is patently obvious! I strongly urge NMB residents to contact the Miami State Attorney and demand that she investigate. If enough residents do that, she will feel the pressure and maybe even do the right thing for a change.

I think his recall is long overdue! If you are serious about circulating a petition, please email me at stephanie.kienzle@gmail.com and I will do whatever I can help your effort.

  3. None of the above is surprising in the least. What is surprising is that he is still our Mayor. What will it take to finally drag this piece of human garbage to the alley and get him carted off permanently? He is just one of the local corruptocrats that plague South Florida cities. They break every rule and then return to break them again. Why is it so impossible to hold anyone accountable?

    1. Because you have a corrupt State Attorney. This is the problem in a nutshell. As I responded to another comment here, I strongly urge NMB residents to contact the Miami State Attorney and demand that she investigate. If enough residents do that, she will feel the pressure and maybe even do the right thing for a change.

  4. The conduct of our mayor continues to be deeply disappointing and, frankly, embarrassing for those of us who live in this community. In my experience, he presents himself as unnecessarily defensive and thin-skinned, reacting to situations with a level of immaturity that is unbecoming of someone elected to lead a city.

What concerns me even more is his behavior outside the formal setting of the dais at City Hall. Leadership is not confined to official meetings; it is reflected in everyday interactions with residents. Yet in community settings, he makes no effort to acknowledge people around him — no greeting, no eye contact, not even a simple “good morning.” Instead, he isolates himself, sitting apart and focusing on his phone while constituents are present.

Public office carries with it an obligation to engage respectfully with the people you represent. Basic courtesy and approachability are not optional qualities; they are fundamental expectations of public leadership.

As a resident, I take pride in my city, which is why it is difficult to say that I feel ashamed of how our mayor represents us. Our community deserves leadership that is visible, respectful, and genuinely engaged with its residents — not distant or dismissive.

    1. Michael Joseph’s weird, antisocial behavior is indicative of someone with the form of autism known as Asperger’s. According to autism360.com, those with Asperger’s “fall under the high functioning autism spectrum. They are often intelligent and excel in academics and work life. However, their impairment lies in the lack of social skills. While they develop communication and language skills in the same way as any other developing child, their deficits become more obvious with age as they struggle to keep up with the expectations of their family and extended community circles.”

This is exactly how Michael Joseph behaves, and worse. Not only is he incapable to communicating in a normal manner, but he is also prone to sudden outbursts of anger, which is also a fairly significant symptom of autism.

It’s a damn shame that his is the face of North Miami Beach, because he is truly a despicable and embarrassing excuse for a human being.
