We’re old enough to remember that time when then-Commissioner Michael Joseph (three years before he was found In Contempt of Congress) decided to boycott Commission meetings for five months beginning December 20, 2022, with his two co-conspirators, McKenzie Fleurimond and Daniela Jean, who joined him beginning with the January 17, 2023 meeting, until they were all Court Ordered to attend the March 21, 2023 Commission meeting.
Fast forward to today, three business days before the next regularly scheduled meeting, we’re told that the October 20, 2026 is cancelled because four, count ’em four, of the elected officials suddenly decided they weren’t going to attend.
It’s almost as if they conspired to boycott a meeting behind closed doors.
At hour of the last Commission meeting held on September 24, 2026, Jay Chernoff asked if there was going to be an October meeting. He said it wasn’t “fair” to have a meeting “based on the election’s gonna be in a week from there.”
Commissioner Fortuna Smukler noted that “We’ve done it the last eight years that I’ve been here, so I don’t know what’s so special …”
Of course, Mayor Contempt of Congress Michael Joseph cut her off and started getting flustered until Daniela Jean piped in to say she agreed with Jay and to ask City “Attorney” Joe Geller’s opinion.
Joe of course sided with Team Michael, who obviously did not want another meeting two weeks before the election, when he hopes to have at least one more corrupt colleague on the dais in order to have the votes to finish destroying North Miami Beach from top to bottom.
And by the way, Jay, October 20, 2026 is two weeks, not one week before the election.
Seriously, Jay? You can’t count to 14?
Needless to say, Michael rushed to get Jay to make a motion to defer the meeting because he is averse to doing his job in the first place, while still getting paid.
Courtesy of North Miami Beach taxpayers, of course.
The Commission had previously cancelled November’s meeting because of the election by Resolution, so deferring the October meeting to the next month was not going to happen.
If there is a runoff on December 1, 2026, the swearing in ceremony will most likely be scheduled for December 8, 2026.
After that, the next regularly scheduled Commission meeting will be held on December 15, 2026.
The sane Commissioners on the dais, Lynn Su, Phyllis Smith, and Fortuna Smukler, were not happy with the idea of City business being on hold for more than two months because Michael & Co. have ulterior motives.
Then Michael suggested moving the meeting to November 10, 2026, which happens to be Veteran’s Day.
We realize that it’s not as important a Holiday as “Juneteenth,” Michael.
But it’s a United States Federal holiday honoring our brave men and women who serve our great Nation, whether you like it or not!
Phyllis Smith, thank goodness, had enough of the nonsense and literally had to remind the slackers that they only have one meeting a month, and they are there to DISCUSS CITY BUSINESS not elections!
Commissioner Su had to remind her colleagues that they are there to conduct the People’s Business, not to worry about elections. She made a motion to keep the meeting on October 20, 2026, but Michael, Daniela, and McKenzie kept interrupting to stop the motion from being seconded.
Fortuna Smukler had to remind everyone that this September 24, 2026 meeting is a “Special” meeting and not a regular meeting. If they don’t have regular meetings in October or November, then it will be three months without meetings.
Daniela then took the opportunity to complain that the “Administration,” i.e., the City Manager who she obviously despises, is not being responsive to her demands.
This, of course, had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not they will meet in October, but she didn’t care because, according to Daniela, the sun revolves around her.
That, and the fact that she wanted her complaint on the record as a warning shot to City Manager Darvin Williams to let him know if one of her people get elected, he’s Gone, Baby, Gone.
Michael’s suggestion to have the next regular commission meeting on Veteran’s Day failed.
Then they voted to hold it on October 20, 2026, which passed.
Watch the stupidity in action!
Jay, of course, was not happy because he hates serving the residents just as much as Michael does.
Except that Mayor Contempt of Congress and his NOW THREE CO-CONSPIRATORS all conspired to boycott the October 20, 2026 meeting.
Which was exactly their plan from the get go.
North Miami Beach residents deserve so much better!
ON NOVEMBER 3, 2026
PLEASE VOTE RESPONSIBLY!
Stephanie
