Dan Christensen, who refers to himself as “an award-winning former investigative reporter for The Miami Herald,” can’t handle the truth.
On March 4, 2025 he penned an article for the Florida Bulldog entitled, Sheriff Tony gives luxurious gold rings to his ‘executive directors’; Says no public money spent, won’t say who paid.
The “award-winning reporter” founded this media outlet ostensibly for the purpose of “watchdog journalism.” His latest article would have been a great exposé piece, except for one thing …
… the day before he published it, blogger Tom Lauder of RedBroward had already reported this story in Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony Buys “RING[S]OF CHAMPIONS” For His Command Staff.
In his article, Dan Christensen even used two of the same photos posted by RedBroward twenty-four hours earlier.

Unlike the Florida Bulldog, RedBroward appropriately credited the photos to Sheriff Tony’s Instagram page.
In his article, Dan Christensen even plagiarized appropriated Tom Lauder’s criticism of Sheriff Tony’s lack of leadership in handling the recent triple murder tragedy in Tamarac.
We here at VotersOpinion give credit where it’s due, whether it’s to reporters or bloggers or citizen journalists, and we hope to receive the same courtesy.
Dan Christensen, however, is not so generous.
When I read his article, I submitted the following comment:
“A day late and a dollar short, as they say.
You were already scooped by the blogger at RedBroward.com. See: https://redbroward.com/2025/03/03/broward-sheriff-gregory-tony-buys-ringsof-champions-for-his-command-staff/
The least you could do is give him credit for doing your job!”
Imagine my surprise when, a very short time later, I received a petulant email from the “award-winning reporter” who took issue with me.
Notice that he denies reading RedBroward, yet somehow he knows that it’s “a propaganda machine.”
He doesn’t deny getting scooped, yet I’m the shrill one for pointing it out.
Obviously, good old Dan got his panties twisted when confronted with the truth.
Which is exactly why no one trusts the media anymore.
Meanwhile, he refused to approve my comment for publication.
What is he afraid of? Criticism or competition?
Or both?
After all, RedBroward has been known to regularly scoop so-called “real” media including, and especially, the Sun Sentinel.
We reached out to Tom Lauder for a comment, and he responded:
Since 2010, RedBroward has proudly exposed waste, corruption and stupidity on both sides of the aisle. We stand by our stories.
Well done, sir. Well done.
