BREAKING NEWS! Here are the details of Duke Sorey’s top secret party to sell off North Miami Beach property!

ATTENTION NORTH MIAMI BEACH RESIDENTS!

Did you get your invitation sent out late this afternoon from North Miami Beach City Manager Arthur “Duke” Sorey inviting you “to attend a Pre-Solicitation Launch Event for the Dieffenbach Preserve on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Julius Littman Theater located at 17011 NE 19 Avenue, North Miami Beach, FL 33162?”

Of course, you didn’t.

Because YOU are not invited!

Even though you live in North Miami Beach and pay taxes so that your government can operate, you are not considered a “stakeholder.”

Not according to Duke, anyway.

You are, however, invited to pay the $10,000 bill so that “developers, financiers, and investors” can dine on fine cuisine, drink expensive wine, and tour the site where the City’s historic Arthur J. Snyder Tennis Center and its 10 acres of green space will be paved over, sold to the highest bidder, and developed into another monstrous high-rise in your back yard.

Duke did not want you to find out about this event.

Too bad, so sad.

He didn’t want Commissioner Barbara Kramer to find out about it, either, despite the fact that she repeatedly asked “management” to send her the information.

We don’t know if Commissioner Smukler got one.

We’re still waiting to hear back from Mayor Anthony DeFillipo.  (We’ll update when we do.)

We’re pretty sure that Criminal Commissioners Michael Joseph, McKenzie Fleurimond, Paule Villard, and Daniela Jean were in on it and already have their party outfits picked out.

But now you don’t have to feel left out.

Because, we here at VotersOpinion just let the cat out of the bag.

  1. The city is run by a group of bandits, stealing our money and now our city property from us. We need to take our city back in November and vote for Phyllis Smith and Jay Chernoff.

  2. You had to know this was next. Same thing is happening over here on the left coast of Florida; little federally statistical “affordable” city a/k/a poor and the scammers are doing the exact same thing to our oldest park except no one wanted to buy it so they’re going for a lifelong lease. Developing the park into
“affordable housing highrises” surrounded by “office space” and, Save Us All, Lord, a “playground.” So replacing a park with a playground. They’re doing the same thing with a piece of investment property that should have been put out to the public and sold to private companies but instead they’re developing it. Both properties have no infrastructure – surrounded by little 1 1/2 lane streets with no way to expand over waterways. But seems like it’s the trend among Southern Florida cities these days.
VOTE SMART, people of NMB, we’re all seeing a crash and burn in our futures if you don’t.

  3. Disappointed in Tony for not fessing up to where he stands on this. I wonder if they already have been approached by a developer and this is for show. Can this be stalled until after the election?

    1. Tony told me he was shocked by this proposal, which was secretly planned behind his back. He’s pissed about the tennis courts especially.

I also believe that Duke already has a buyer, and I think I know who it may be. I don’t have proof, however, but I will reveal what I know when I know it.

  4. I have a feeling that Stephanie is correct.
Duke (or one of the commissioners) most likely has a particular developer already interested, and rushing this subject through without public discussion, setting up this “pre-development” meeting – its all mostly a smoke screen.
The important point is any more movement needs to wait until after the election, or their needs to be a “breaking of Sunshine rules” complaint/lawsuit done as there are (I’m not an attorney but I believe so) definitely some Sunshine rules that have broken here!

    1. The violating of Sunshine Laws is a regular occurrence now, so we expect that it’s been going on. McKenzie was in on it from the beginning because the media was told to contact him for info. Really? McKenzie is an idiot who thinks he knows everything and he’s been wrong on every single point, especially about Robert’s Rules. Putting anything of importance in his hands is a cosmic joke.

I also believe the deal has already been cut and this whole ceremonial event is merely for show as a pretense of “transparency.”

The thing is, even if the four Criminal Commissioners vote on something before November, it won’t be too late for a new Commission to undo the damage before any ground is broken. Duke is probably going to try to rush it through, but development projects don’t happen overnight. Look at the Dezer disaster looming on the Eastern Shores horizon. How many months ago was that deal voted on? And construction STILL hasn’t started? So, the green space at the tennis courts won’t be paved over that quickly.

The more important thing right now is to elect Jay Chernoff and Phyllis Smith and all the criminal activity will come to a screeching halt.

      GET OUT THE VOTE!
