The Mayor and Commission of North Miami Beach reviewed the resumes of 65 individuals for the City Manager position and were instructed to each pick their top three choices.  Here are the choices made by each of the Commissioners:

While the individual interviews will commence tomorrow, April 15, 2021, four Commissioners have chosen to conduct their interviews behind closed doors instead of in a public setting.  To no one’s surprise, those four Commissioners are Michael Joseph, McKenzie Fleurimond, Paule Villard, and Daniela Jean, who regularly violate Florida Sunshine Laws.

Mayor Anthony DeFillipo, Commissioner Barbara Kramer, and Commissioner Fortuna Smukler, who consistently choose transparency over secrecy, will interview the candidates via Zoom for the benefit of all residents of North Miami Beach.

Because, as they say, Sunshine is the best disinfectant!

For those of you who would like to learn all you can about the four candidates, and see for yourselves what they bring to the table, here is the schedule for the interviews that have been set up so far.

In closing, we’ll remind you of the esteemed Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis, who was credited for saying sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.  He was referring to this statement by James Bryce in his 1888 book, The American Commonwealth:

Only the most honorable elected officials have the integrity to govern in the sunlight.
