A young male in his mid-20s was the victim of a shooting in North Miami Beach this evening. The murder occurred in the vicinity of NE 151 Street and 16 Avenue. Police have not yet identified him and so far only Channel 10 is at the scene.
I’m told that Captain Richard Rand has arrived and will be speaking to the media shortly.
The story will probably be broadcast on Channel 10’s 11:00 news.
I’ll keep you posted with updates as details become available.
Captain Richard Rand is interviewed by Channel 10 reporter. Video filmed by my crime scene reporter, Karin Kimball: Rand Interview
Note: Although witnesses at the scene told Karin the victim was in his mid-20s, Captain Rand stated he was in his mid-30s.

It is out of control in this city. A dead person right in the middle of the street on a Saturday night is not what we want this city to be. Multiple people at the scene said they heard three shots and it was not a drive by. I heard there was only one police patrolling Washington Park tonight. It is time city government recognizes that our police are our only asset. It is the reason we have this municipality. If council can’t see that, they are destroying this city. Young people are dying in the streets and in the alleys. If we don’t invest in our safety, we might as well give it up. Crime is on the upswing. Violent crime. And I am sure we have not seen the worst yet. #NMBPD
I know how to fix it, very simple : you make the lifes of criminals hell and they all live the city ! A very proactive unit, backed by the. Corrup politicians and political correctness leaders and belive a punch of cops are very lazy , but there is A group out there that believes in getting criminals out of the street if politicias and leaders back them up ! Rudy julianni did it in new york ! Very simple, if riding atv , dirt bike on the street, open container in front of stores that sell liquors, loitering and trespassing in buildings that you dont live , if you take them all to jail, crime will go away !
2 murders in NMB. One in the street and one in an alley on Sunday morning in broad daylight. What will it take for city council to wake up?
Congratulations to Voters Opinion, Stephanie and crime scene reporter Karin Kimball for being first on the scene and first to report. Thank you both for exposing the dangers that exist around the city. Let’s hope the PD can solve this second murder of the year in NMB as they did the first one.
