NORTH MIAMI BREAKING NEWS! Well, Maybe…

Should II just received an “unconfirmed” rumor – again – that North Miami City Manager Aleem Ghany is resigning.

Although I first heard rumors last month and blogged in “Should I stay or should I go?” that he was intending to resign by September 30, 2015, since then there’s been radio silence.

It now appears that there was more to this rumor than skeptics originally believed because my source is absolutely convinced it’s a done deal.

As of this moment I have been unable to obtain an official confirmation, but I’ll keep y’all posted as soon as I find out whether it’s true or not.

Meanwhile, enjoy The Clash!

  1. Aleem was a great Public Works Director and didn’t have to put up with all of the insanity of being City Manager. He is a gentleman and the City of North Miami has been lucky to have him around all these years!

  2. We had great hopes and expectations for Aleem, but as usual North Miami government consistently disappoints. As for severance pay, we were already burned by this for the incompetent fool Steve Johnson when he left for Miami Gardens PD. He should never have gotten 1 penny and neither should Aleem. If you resign, that is on you. Unless there is some fear of spilling the beans, as in Johnson’s case, there is no practical or political justification to use taxpayers money for this. I’m sure we wish him well in his new capacity of working for SoLomia or whatever its called, where he will no doubt appreciate a significant pay hike…no severance please!

  3. I agree with you Ellen. He was a good man with good intentions. It appears that his downfall was to align himself with no so great people. It’s a shame that his lack of experience allowed him to get bamboozled by people like Chief Burgess.

  4. I can’t even begin to imagine that anybody from outside of North Miami with the intelligence and ability to be the City Manager would apply. The garbage collection stinks, the Department of Building and Zoning has been decimated, and who knows what else. There are now some companies that will no longer bother even applying for permits and won’t do new installations in the city. The City Manager is supposed to be in control, not the council. Ha ha!
