I am about to make you very, very uncomfortable.

At least, I hope so.

Because I am going so far out of my comfort zone even bringing up this topic, yet I am compelled to write about it for the first time.

A nine minute video I watched yesterday had me cringing in horror, and not because I am either pro-choice or pro-life.  It disturbed me because I am pro-decency.

I am not the morality police.  I don’t want the government interfering in my personal life decisions, such as what I do with my own body or who I decide to marry.  I have always maintained that the government has no business in how I conduct my life as long as I don’t harm another human being or their property.

I firmly believe this was the intent of our founding fathers when they penned the Declaration of Independence.  I’m quite sure they would be astonished at how much control the government has over our lives today.

In any event, the issue I’m about to discuss is not a Republican or conservative matter.  It goes beyond personal liberty.  And well beyond partisan politics.

I also want to warn you, it’s not pretty.

The Center for Medical Progress, which is a conservative organization, posted a video with the following description:

LOS ANGELES, July 14—New undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of aborted fetuses, and admitting she uses partial-birth abortions to supply intact body parts.

In the video, Nucatola is at a business lunch with actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company. As head of PPFA’s Medical Services department, Nucatola has overseen medical practice at all Planned Parenthood locations since 2009. She also trains new Planned Parenthood abortion doctors and performs abortions herself at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles up to 24 weeks.

That’s the caveat.

As a rule, I do not discuss or debate abortion.  But this video got my attention in a way that no other article or anti-abortion propaganda ever has.  It literally shook me to my core.

It wasn’t so much the content of this woman’s discourse, which believe me, was just gross no matter which side of the debate you’re on.

But the cavalier, cold-blooded manner in which she spoke about fetal body parts as if they were nothing more than discarded human tissue has been haunting me ever since I watched it.

The woman in the video is not discussing first trimester abortions, during which the embryo is basically still an unformed developing mass of cells.  At this early stage abortions are performed by a vacuum aspiration and a simple dilation and curettage (D & C) procedure.

For late term, or second trimester, abortions, the procedure involves the use of forceps in order to extract a much larger fetus.

If you are pro-life and believe that life begins at conception, then you would consider all abortions as murder.  Many people, however, are comfortable enough with the concept of aborting a fetus up to about 12 weeks.

Even at 12 weeks, however, according to Baby Center, LLC in the UK “Your baby is about 5.4cm long from her crown to her rump and weighs slightly less than 14g. The big news this week is that your baby’s reflexes are becoming more honed. She’ll squirm if you prod your belly, although you probably can’t feel her moving around yet. Fetal nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly and the neurological connections in her brain (synapses) are forming. She can close her fingers, curl her toes and clench her eye muscles.”

Planned Parenthood performs abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.

And yet Planned Parenthood would have you believe that there should be no ban on abortions performed after 20 weeks.

Are you a uncomfortable yet?

As reported by the Washington Post, Undercover video shows Planned Parenthood official discussing fetal organs used for research:

An antiabortion group on Tuesday released an undercover video of an official at Planned Parenthood discussing in graphic detail how to abort a fetus to preserve its organs for medical research — as well as the costs associated with sharing that tissue with scientists. Over lunch at a Los Angeles restaurant, two antiabortion activists posing as employees from a biotech firm met with Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical research. Armed with cameras, the activists recorded Nucatola talking about Planned Parenthood’s work donating fetal tissue to researchers and pressed her on whether the clinics were charging for the organs.

What got to me was the cavalier attitude of Dr. Nucatola as she casually discussed the harvesting of organs from the fetuses and the manner in which they were obtained.  I was especially shocked when she described turning the fetus into a breech position so as not to damage the baby’s head as it was being pulled by its legs from the uterus through the cervix.

The Washington Post further reported:

Antiabortion groups also said the callous nature of the discussion captured on film should tug at viewers’ consciences — particularly when Nucatola apparently describes “crushing” the fetus in ways that keep its internal organs intact and her remarks about researchers’ desire for lungs and livers.

“I’d say a lot of people want liver,” she says in the video posted on the Center for Medical Progress’s Web site, between bites of salad. “And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps.”

She continues: “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

Whether or not Planned Parenthood illegally sells these baby parts, which is the subject of an investigation launched yesterday by Congress and several agencies, I was aghast by this woman’s attitude toward human fetuses as if they were nothing more than organ factories. In response to the video, Planned Parenthood is claiming that this organ harvesting of fetuses is a “humanitarian undertaking.”

As reported by Breitbart.com today, Planned Parenthood was formed by a pro-Nazi racist by the name of Margaret Sanger:

Sanger was the birth control proponent who founded Planned Parenthood nearly 70 years ago. Her motives had nothing to do with liberating women or women’s rights, she was a eugenicist — someone who believed that through abortion, birth control, and forced sterilization society could “assist the [human] race in the elimination of the unfit.”

In a piece titled “Birth Control and Racial Betterment,” Sanger wrote in part:

Before eugenists and others who are laboring for racial betterment can succeed, they must first clear the way for Birth Control. Like the advocates of Birth Control, the eugenists, for instance, are seeking to assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit. Both are seeking a single end but they lay emphasis upon different methods.

Eugenists emphasize the mating of healthy couples for the conscious purpose of producing healthy children, the sterilization of the unfit to prevent their populating the world with their kind and they may, perhaps, agree with us that contraception is a necessary measure among the masses of the workers, where wages do not keep pace with the growth of the family and its necessities in the way of food, clothing, housing, medical attention, education and the like.

We who advocate Birth Control, on the other hand, lay all our emphasis upon stopping not only the reproduction of the unfit but upon stopping all reproduction when there is not economic means of providing proper care for those who are born in health. The eugenist also believes that a woman should bear as many healthy children as possible as a duty to the state. We hold that the world is already over-populated. Eugenists imply or insist that a woman’s first duty is to the state; we contend that her duty to herself is her duty to the state.

Even more disturbing, Breitbart also reports:

Here are the unspeakable things Sanger published about black people in an essay chirpily titled, “What Every Girl Should Know.”:

It is said that the aboriginal Australian, the lowest known species of the human family, just a step higher than the chimpanzee in brain development, has so little sexual control that police authority alone prevents him from obtaining sexual satisfaction on the streets. According to one writer, the rapist has just enough brain development to raise him above the animal, but like the animal, when in heat knows no law except nature which impels him to procreate whatever the result. Every normal man and Woman has the power to control and direct his sexual impulse. Men and women who have it in control and constantly use their brain cells in thinking deeply, are never sensual.

And, lastly:

The Federalist adds:

Margaret Sanger, for those who are unaware, was a vile racist and eugenicist who dedicated her life to ridding the world of poor black babies, who she deemed the “degenerate and defective.” She was a featured guest of the Ku Klux Klan and a huge proponent of the forced sterilization program of the Nazi regime in the 1930’s.

These are known facts, documented in her own words, about the founder of Planned Parenthood.

Meanwhile, a website called BlackGenocide.org claims:

Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion. On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

It doesn’t get any more disturbing than that.

In response to the undercover video, Planned Parenthood issued a statement in which they wrote:

“A well funded group established for the purpose of damaging Planned Parenthood’s mission and services has promoted a heavily edited, secretly recorded videotape that falsely portrays Planned Parenthood’s participation in tissue donation programs that support lifesaving scientific research.  Similar false accusations have been put forth by opponents of abortion services for decades. These groups have been widely discredited and their claims fall apart on closer examination, just as they do in this case.”

Columnist Doug Powers summed it up when he wrote, “In other words, if you were horrified that a Planned Parenthood representative was able to sit there and casually eat a salad and drink wine while talking about how to kill unborn babies in ways that don’t damage their organs so they can be marketed later on, well, you’re just a bad person.”

I was horrified.

I guess I’m just a really bad person.
