Fraud and corruption? Meh! Who cares?

honey badgerWith so many corrupt politicians allowed to continue in office, it’s frustrating to realize that the average Joe/Jane citizen will never get a fair shake.

Granted, every once in a while justice is served.  Former North Miami Mayor Lucie Tondreau got herself convicted and sentenced, but that’s only because she was nailed on federal charges.  Obviously, U.S. Attorney Wilfredo A. Ferrer doesn’t allow lawyers like Benedict P. Kuehne, a/k/a Master of Delay, get away with bullshit in his courtroom.

Ben might not have any pull with Mr. Ferrer, but he sure does own Miami State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.

It’s no secret that in KFR Country, the politically connected (i.e., Myron Rosner) get a pass, the politically challenged (i.e., Jean Rodrigue Marcellus) are punished, and the politically scapegoated (i.e., Ricardo Brutus) are thrown under the bus.

But the absolutely worst offender of the public trust is the “top cop” herself, Kathy Rundle.

It’s no secret that she rarely prosecutes politicians, especially those whose constituents she might need to help get her re-elected.

By now, does anyone really expect Myron to ever make it to trial, much less get convicted of anything?

Despite all the evidence turned over to her proving that North Miami Beach Councilcritter Frantz Pierre has committed perjury on at least two occasions, participated in absentee ballot fraud in the last two election cycles, and is constantly involved in general dirtbaggery, Frantzie remains a free man and is still miraculously occupying a seat on the dais.

How many other dirty politicians have gone un-prosecuted under Rundle’s watch?

Let’s face it.  Until Miami-Dade County voters get rid of Katherine Fernandez Rundle, there will be no chance in hell of getting rid of them.  Until citizens stand up and start demanding honesty and transparency from their elected officials, and replacing the corruptocrats with decent candidates, nothing will ever change.

Nada!

Until then, I give up.

So, let’s talk about Islamic Terrorism instead.

A couple of days ago, President Obama said that the United States “will never be at war with Islam.”  He added, “Ideologies are not defeated with guns but better ideas and more attracting and more compelling vision.”

Um, yeah.  About that.

I guess his #JobsForISIS campaign isn’t exactly going according to plan.

So the President decided to try a new tack.

This latest “tough on terror” talk was in response to a video that ISIS filmed “showing 25 Syrian government soldiers being killed by teenagers in the ancient amphitheatre in the city of Palmyra.” Aljazeera reported that the video, “showed the soldiers in green and brown military uniforms being shot dead on the amphitheatre’s stage in front of an enormous version of the group’s black and white flag.  The killers all appear to be children or teenagers and are wearing desert camouflage and brown bandannas.”

The New York Post’s Benny Avni had some choice words in response to the President’s speech.  In President Obama brings a mouth to a knife fight, he wrote, “Can we beat ISIS by presenting “a more attractive and more compelling vision”?  That’s how Obama put it while assessing progress in our undeclared, undefined non-war against a nonstate that has nothing to do with Islam (and yet kicks our ass all over the place).  In the real world, ISIS isn’t conquering vast territories in Iraq, Syria, North Africa and South Asia by presenting a compelling vision.  The majority of residents in those occupied territories obey ISIS only because their other option is a slashed throat.”

Not everyone was so hard on the President.

As you might imagine, Mr. Obama’s #BetterIdeasForISIS speech resulted in absolute hilarity on Twitter.

And my personal favorite:

Alrighty then.

I might not see an end to fraud and corruption in Miami-Dade County – or an end to Islamic Terrorism – in my lifetime, but at least I can laugh my ass off in the meantime.
