Still gathering no moss!

they see me rollingWanna feel old?

The Rolling Stones made their U.S. debut with the hit song (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction  in 1965.

THAT’S FIFTY YEARS AGO!

How crazy is that?

Mick Jagger’s classic was noted as one of The 15 Songs that Defined the Baby Boomer Generation.  Although I remember it as the anthem of my teenage years, I was surprised to learn that it was produced when I was only eight years old.

It was timeless.  It still is.

Oh, that song.

In 50 Years Ago: A Look Back at 1965, The Atlantic magazine published an amazing array of photographs shot the same year.

Senior Editor Alan Taylor wrote, “A half-century ago, the war in Vietnam was escalating, the space race was in full swing, the Rolling Stones were on a world tour, the bravery of those who marched to Selma led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act, and the St. Louis Arch was completed. The United States occupied the Dominican Republic, Malcolm X was assassinated, NASA’s Mariner 4 flew by Mars, race riots erupted in Watts, California, and Muhammad Ali defeated Sonny Liston. Let me take you 50 years into the past now, for a photographic look back at the year 1965.”

Wanna feel REALLY old?

The Rolling Stones are STILL on tour!

After all these decades, the dudes are still rollin’.
