It sure looks like Good Time Charlie‘s REALLY got the blues this time!
Rumors had been swirling since yesterday when the omnipresent Nacivre “Charlie” Charles was glaringly missing from the polls on election day. The right hand man of former-suspended-arrested-imprisoned Mayor Lucie Tondreau was nowhere to be seen.
Within minutes of receiving a tip and trying to confirm that the FBI had raided Charlie’s house yesterday, Miami Herald reporter Lance Dixon told me he’s working on a story that should be published by the end of the night.
As promised, he just posted, Ex-North Miami mayor’s former campaign manager charged with campaign violations.
The Herald reported that Charles, “surrendered to police Wednesday after he was charged with two counts of campaign violations related to illegal expenditures. According to the arrest warrant, Charles, 57, approved two withdrawals from Tondreau’s 2013 mayoral campaign account for a total of $12,000, way above the $500 limit.”
He’s been cooling his heels in the hoosegow since yesterday and “is being held with no bond.”
OMG! Has this been a crazy few days, or what?
Interestingly, I was told by a number of sources that Carline Paul was “strangely subdued” yesterday. Charlie had been campaigning for her since the beginning, even though he’s not listed on any of her Campaign Treasurer’s Reports, either as a treasurer or a paid worker. Maybe she knew something was up.
In any event, since Charlie is still behind bars, he obviously could not be reached for a comment.
But if he was available, he’d probably say something like this.

“Spreading the Wealth”
WOW,WOW and more WOW! Maybe the Federal guys will start picking them up one by one. All the crooks,I mean ballot “helpers” will get their time soon.
Rockin’ good news.
Well it’s about time ethics and Dade county
Got off there ass and are reeling in these corrupt
Criminals tainting our system. Now they need
Frantz Pierre and Phyllis Smith from North Miami Beach.
They think they can get away with this and more too
And laugh at the system which is failing us. That’s why the voters stay home. They are disenchanted with our system and lack of enforcing the laws on public officials violations
The slow almost non-response to voter fraud in Dade County makes one wonder whether the elected officials charged with investigating and prosecuting these crimes may also be the beneficiaries of these criminals. There must be zero tolerance to all election fraud as this undermines the essence of democracy and discourages honest people from participating.
Has anybody stopped to ponder that this is the legacy of Haiti, one of the most corrupt countries in the region? What these individuals are doing is nothing new where they come from. Corruption, lies, mishandling of public funds by government employees is the norm in Haiti. And this is the price we pay for having welcomed these individuals in our country. America has NOTHING to gain, and everything to lose, when it allows subcultures of immigrants, like Haitians, to come live, work and hold public offices in this country. It is a sad state of affairs the mess we are in, for instead of assimilating into our mindset and culture values, these former immigrants remain attached to their country’s values and lifestyle and try to implement it here. And the proof is all over North Miami Beach.
Robert, while we all know that Haiti is probably the most corrupt country on the planet, or at least the western hemisphere, you are being extremely unfair to label all Haitian Americans as corrupt. There is corruption across the board in politics, regardless of nationality. Haitians like Frantz Pierre and his handful of cohorts in the Circle of Corruption, for example, do practice the third world politics he brought from his native country.
However, these corruptocrats bring shame and dishonor to all the good and decent people in the Haitian American community. You cannot judge an entire group of people by the actions of a few.
If you disparage Haitian immigrants who come here, who’s next? To say that America shouldn’t “allow” them to “live, work and hold public office” is extremely discriminatory, not to mention illegal. Worse, it is anti-American.
Engraved on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty is the famous quote by Emma Lazarus:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
It does not say, “Everyone but you.”
Finally some action beyond Lucy the crook. There is still so much more ill begotten gains by the corrupted ones: Marie Steril and her mother’s upgraded HUD housing and legal fees, Mardi Gras parade that never was and of course Joe Celestin payments for work never done and never needed. Perhaps and hopefully those in office now are paying attention! We still have issues with the chief of police and the way he is running his department…so let’s keep on keeping on until the government we need is in place.
Steril’s mother should have been booted out if that house. The chief is a whole other ball of wax. He needs to go and the only way that’s going to happen is by chipping away and exposing what he’s doing in the police department. Our council has to dig their head out of the sand. Burgess is useless and brings nothing to the party. He’s a two faced schmoozer who’s ducking and dodging like a pro.
There is no better end to a great vacation than coming back home after two weeks in Europe to hear all the great news. Congrats to Desulme! Now we need change in the PD. When am I going to find out that they got rid of Burgess? Is there more we don’t know about?
I notice that the usual “thumbs down” trolls aren’t as feisty since the law suit was filed. Wonder why that is?
Maybe ‘cuz they sense trouble ahead. Just saying.
