The Frantzie Phyllis Twins strike again!

TwinsAnyone who attended the North Miami Beach Charter Workshop on November 18, 2014 was treated to what can only be described as a Phyllis Classic Performance.

Or, PCP for short.

Phyllis pulled out all the stops.  The show had it all!

The Phyllisisms.  The posing and posturing.  Invented words.  Run-on sentences.  The ear-splitting squawk of a parrot on steroids.

Phyllis in all her bloviating glory.

While discussing the city’s charter, Phyllis Smith, one of the two the longest sitting members of the North Miami Beach City Council, had the chutzpah to loudly protest against a proposed charter amendment regarding term limits.  At issue was a proposed amendment which would allow a council person to run for mayor immediately after serving two four-year terms, which would add four years to an existing eight year term limit.

Now mind you, I’m a firm believer in term limits. I always have been. But the proposal as written might be worth considering.

Or not.

Either way, if this proposed charter amendment is placed on the ballot, the voters will have the last word.

At the workshop, however, Phyllis showed her hand by protesting the proposal in its entirety and screaming “NO MORE TWENTY YEAR TUSHY-ON-THE-CHAIR AND MAKING A HOME OF IT!”

What did I tell you?  Is that a Classic Phyllisism, or what?

While arguing against the premise that term limits can be naturally achieved by the electorate, Phyllis screeched, “They can vote you out if the nasty mailings come out!”

WOW!  She must have seen that  coming!

Not realizing that she was inadvertently advocating for her own ouster, Phyllis continued, “New people have new ideas.  Sixteen years is much too long for anyone up here.  New blood has to come in.  Who’s to say that the next young blood can’t make it better?”

Really!  Who’s to say?

Right on cue, Phyllis’ eight-years-and-counting co-conspirator, Frantz Pierre, just had  to weigh in.

He exclaimed, “No council person should serve more than the president or the governor!  Eight years is enough!”

Oh, really, Frantzie?  I’d say that in your particular case, eight years is eight too many.

The best part of the meeting was when Barbara Kramer had her turn to speak.  She immediately pointed out the glaring hypocrisy of Phyllis and Frantz.

Barbara said, “I find it ironic that two of my colleagues on the other end of the dais think that eight years is enough, and if you win the next election, you’ll be here twelve years.  Think before you speak.  It just doesn’t make sense for either one of you to make that statement.  And if you feel that way, then why are you running again?  You made a statement, and how do you back that statement up by running for another four years?  Just don’t say anything.”

I gave Barbara a standing ovation right at that moment.

Yeah, I probably looked kinda stupid, standing and clapping alone in my office, but what the hell?  No one saw me.

But, Barbara … SHE NAILED IT!

Needless to say, the Frantzie Phyllis Twins tried to stop Barbara from telling the truth.

After all, their hypocrisy was being filmed for posterity.

Frantzie pleaded with the Mayor to make Barbara stop talking.

How come no one ever begs the Mayor to shut Phyllis up?

Phyllis was absolutely, positively aghast at Barbara’s suggestion that she “not say anything!”

Because it isn’t humanly possible for Phyllis to not say anything.

It would be easier for her to kick heroin than stop talking.

Whether it’s exempting themselves from a ban on “free” lifetime health insurance, or making sure no one else is entitled to a term longer than eight years, Frantz and Phyllis have proven once again that rules are great for everyone else.  They just don’t apply to them.

Meanwhile, the latest mailer that hit North Miami Beach mailboxes yesterday says it all.  It’s a beautiful thing.

Enjoy!

  1. I believe that Michael Joseph (Punch #70) is a true community servant.

Michael Joseph serves on civic boards, Michael Joseph is active in service to the community, and Michael Joseph has been a long-time resident of the community.

Michael Joseph has been endorsed by the Jewish Leadership Coaltion and a number of leading community figures. Click here to read their endorsement here.

I would ask voters reading this comment to consider the credentials of Michael Joseph before casting their ballot in the Group 3 race.

  2. HectorinMiami, why do you continuously state the same thing? I still don’t see that he has done anything for the city of North Miami Beach. I have met him once in the city hall chambers during a meeting in March. He doesn’t seem to know much about what has been going on in the city over the past few years. He has not volunteered on any committees and there are many openings that are needed including Beautification, RAB, PUC, etc…

When you talk about the other two candidates running for the same seat, not the incumbent, both have a large community involvement history.

Margie Love has been involved in Crime Watch and has helped establish multiple Crime Watches throughout the community. She has spoken many times at Council Meeting about Crime Prevention and the need to back our police officers.

Bruce Lamberto is currently the Chairman of Beautification and RAB Committees. He has been involved in many activities involving the Veterans from NMB including the Veteran’s Memorial, the refurbishment of the Gun mount on NE 19th Avenue and a tribute at Southern Memorial Park.

I feel that either one of these candidates is more deserving of a vote than Michael Joseph, who I believe may be connected to Frantz Pierre as well. Just look at his campaign signs and the similarities to Frantz’s signs including the multiple stars. If he wants to distance himself from Frantz, then he needs to come out against him in public.

I will be at the Council Meeting Tuesday night; feel free to talk to me before or after the meeting if you believe it will change my mind.

    1. Thank you TC, you are so right. And let me fill you in on his endorsement from the Jewish Leadership Coalition. Mr. Joseph was recruited to run against State Rep. Barbara Watson by this same organization because they want him to represent their concerns about the school voucher program. Here is an old article to read for a quick understanding.

      http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2010-10-26/news/fl-jjpn-vouchers-1027-20101026_1_school-vouchers-public-education-jewish-day-schools

Michael, believing that there is such a great many voters who support this in the Jewish Orthodox community ran with it as I’m sure he too believes this program needs to be implemented, but also what a great way to get your foot in the door. However the voucher concern is not a platform for a candidate here, because the governing body has no say in this matter. Endorsing Mr. Joseph for their own purposes is a horrible way to go about recruiting candidates, but of course it’s done all the time. You see if Mr. Joseph is elected as a councilperson, it is their plan that after his time served here he will have enough credentials to then endorse him again for State Representative and perhaps get him elected so he can pass their agenda. Probably by that time the issue may get resolved once and for all. Quite frankly it’s quite a leap for the Jewish Orthodox Community to back him for this purpose only and it’s quite disappointing that a community other than North Miami Beach thinks they can commandeer our ship to move their agendas forward.

Again, I don’t know this gentleman, I have nothing against him, how could I? I just would like candidates to have a deeper foundation in our city before trying to run it.

  3. Michael Joseph is a great candidate who supports the North Miami Beach community and does not have to run a negative campaign to be successful.

People genuinely like him and endorse and invest in him. It must drive his competitors nuts to not have a grasp on how to suppress his network of friends and supporters so they are making up conspiracy theories.

REALITY CHECK: North Miami Beach is home to many people and some of them do not live in the bubble you naysayers like to keep yourselves in.

As for school vouchers, Michael Joseph supports many issues that have been for too long ignored by the typical activists and political insiders. Michael Joseph represents other ideas than just what the political establishment is focused. And that’s kinda the point of voting for someone new: They have new ideas, bring in new energy and can accomplish new things. Is that not what NMB needs the most of?

CONCLUSION: Michael Joseph is that rare candidate not beholden to the typical special interests. He represents real ideas, real people and is running a positive campaign full of promise for a better NMB.

This May 5th please vote for Michael Joseph (Punch #70) for City of North Miami Beach Council, Seat 3.

    1. Did you say conspiracy theory? Wait, WHAT? I didn’t hear about any conspiracy theories. None are allowed to be circulated without being vetted by the Team Irony Conspiracy Bureau. If you see or hear of any conspiracies without the official TICB stamp of approval, report them to VotersOpinion.com IMMEDIATELY!

      Seriously.

I hope we’re clear on this.

      1. Love it Stephanie!

Team Irony says that conspiracy theories are not allowed in VotersOpinion.com

Isn’t it funny that they got a 5-year old article about school vouchers… LoL. Desperate!

  4. Would you like me to look for a recent article for you Hector? I was finding a simple explanation for those voters who do not have “students” in their home. Wow! Not everyone follows this issue. By the way I haven’t seen one thing new in his literature or your constant bloviating about him. I guess we’ll just see who the run-off is between and then will go from there.
