The three North Miami mayoral candidates have filed additional Campaign Treasurer’s Reports. Smith Joseph and Jean Rodrigue Marcellus both filed for the two reporting periods, 07/19/14-07/25/14 and 07/26/14-08/01/14. Kevin Burns has only filed a report for the period 07/19/14-07/25/14.
Smith Joseph loaned his campaign an additional $20,000.00, bringing the total of his loans up to $95,000.00. During these two reporting periods, supporters contributed an additional $4,950.00 to the Elect Smith Joseph Campaign, and he reported expenditures of $34,851.39. To date, Joseph has reported a grand total of $114,295.50 in monetary contributions, including loans, and expenditures of $102,317.66, leaving the sum of $11,977.84 in his war chest.
As with his previous Reports, most of Smith Joseph’s contributions came from medical establishments and personnel, and almost all of his expenditures went to consulting, canvassing and an all out media blitz.
Dude wants your vote.

Kevin Burns’ Campaign Treasurer’s Report, which you can view by clicking here, reflects contributions totaling $2,050.00 and expenditures of $2,077.85. As of August 1, 2014, his total contributions he reported were $24,870.00, with $3,600.00 being loans to his campaign, and he reported total expenditures of $11,717.15, less than half his receipts. His most recent donors were a mix of business owners and companies, as well as the Miami-Dade County Police Benevolent Association, from which he also received an endorsement. He spent his funds on print and radio ads, office supplies and, of course, a tank of gas.
Kev gotta drive!
He also gotta file another Report!
The candidate “endorsed” by Haitian radio, Jean Rodrigue Marcelles, seems to have all but thrown in the towel. For the reporting period 07/19/14-07/25/14, he merely filed a Waiver of Report, which means he neither received nor spent any money. You can view that Waiver by clicking here. During the period 07/26/14-08/01/14, which you can see here, Marcellus received contributions from one company and two individuals totaling $550.00, and he spent a whopping $850.00 on two radio ads and campaign supplies.
Jean has definitely lost momentum.
Alrighty then, folks, there you have it.
Yeah, I know. Is this campaign season boring, or what?
I was expecting something so much more contentious and downright dirty.
Or at the very least, someone getting punched in the mouth again.
Still, I felt it was my civic duty to report the campaign news, regardless of how snooze-inducing it is.
If you haven’t already fallen asleep by now…

Odd mr Marcellus would drop campaigning but not drop from the race. Could he be there to divide the Haitian vote for Burns?
Mr. Burns need to file his CTR report on time ….However, his excuse for this time in not filing his CTR on time … Mr. Burns is planning to file a lawsuit against someone, something, or etc …. So he is special and exempt from filing!
Kevin Burns called to tell me that he did file the second report, and that he was going to call the clerk to see why it wasn’t posted. As of tonight, it is still not posted.
FYI, Kevin’s first report was posted days before any of the reports of the other two candidates, so the problem could be in the Clerk’s office. I would not be surprised.
