Ordinarily, the absence of Frantzie at any given time is a cause for celebration! But, last night’s highly anticipated confrontation between North Miami Beach Councilcritter Frantz Pierre and the angry residents was a bust when Frantzie was a no-show.
Is anyone surprised? I know I’m not.
L’il Frantzie P does not like to be in the hot seat. Especially during an election year. He always manages to either show up late, go MIA or walk out of Chambers right before an important, but contentious, discussion or vote.
By far, the most memorable Frantzie Moment was the night he recused himself from voting on a variance in Eastern Shores because he claimed to be a “potential buyer” of the four million dollar home that was the subject of the variance.
But last night, the spotlight was on Frantzie’s outrageous spending habits. Knowing full well he was going to come under fire for his taxpayer funded trip to Haiti, attendance at the Presidential Inauguration and “donations” to questionable charities, he came up with a brand new excuse for playing hooky from the Council meeting: He said he was “in the hospital.”
Disappointment was in the air as word spread quickly that he wouldn’t be there to face the music.
One man, who preferred to remain anonymous, told me, “He’s probably calling from the lobby of a hospital just so he can say he’s in one.”
I’m sure he was joking, but knowing how cunning and manipulative Pee-Aire can be, I wouldn’t put such a ploy past him.
In any event, Frantzie may have dodged the bullet last night, but he can avoid attending Council meetings for only so long. He can’t stay away forever! Article V, Section 25 of the North Miami Beach Code of Ordinances states, “If any councilman has failed to attend a meeting of the city council for a period of one hundred and twenty (120) days, the seat of such councilman shall automatically become vacant.”
Although his presence would not be missed if he went on a four month extended vacation, Frantzie is not about to risk losing the nearly $30k city salary, or his teacher salary of approximately $53k, that he desperately needs.
So he can buy his four million dollar home.
Yeah, I, too, am…

“Spreading the Wealth”
Stephanie, please tell me that all the people that voted for him are (for the lack of a word) ignorant. Or do they just not care?
I’d have to say “yes.”
The people who vote for him are “low information voters”. Anyone with any brains would not.
I would actually like to see a copy of the hospital bill showing he was indeed in the hospital for himself not visiting someone. Attending City Council meetings is an integral part of his job as a councilman. He shouldn’t be allowed to get away with nonsense. No one on the council should.
It should be like a note from the doctor when you miss school.
Stephanie you are doing a great service for the people in NMB and NM informing us what is going on in our cities with our elected officials. I wish everyone in our cities would get your information. I will certainly spread the word.
