To paraphrase (plagiarize?) Random Pixels’ regular column, Your lunch hour time waster, I present to you Your Saturday night time waster.
Earlier tonight I came across this March 5, 2014 investigative report from an NBC affiliate in Lee County, Florida, about illegal aliens and non-citizens voting.
We all know this is a Big Lie because there is absolutely, positively NO VOTER FRAUD in Florida. Are we clear on that?
Another interesting item I came across was an article published in Student Media at FIU, SGA-BBC lobbying for second access road. The Student Government Association at Biscayne Bay Campus has been trying since 2011 to get the City of North Miami to agree to a second road leading to the college, as well as the other schools located in the area. The SGA-BBC has enlisted the help of the Office of Government Relations to convince the North Miami City Council to finally acquiesce.
For some reason, the Student Government Association is under the impression that if they get more involved in the community their wish will be granted. I’m not sure what part of “Lower Property Values” or “Mangroves Are Protected” they don’t understand, but I do have to give them credit for their effort and creativity.
I’m not saying that FIU doesn’t need a second access road, but the one proposed on NE 135th Street just won’t fly with the folks who own homes there and don’t want their peaceful, quiet, tree-lined street turned into a traffic-jammed mess. Can’t say I blame them. FIU’s other option to open up NE 143rd Street instead seems more viable, and less invasive to private residences, to me. But, what do I know? I’m just a blogger.
In my researching this issue (yeah, I’m bored again), I found an interesting 2005 document entitled, City of North Miami Transportation Master Plan. While I didn’t read all 57 pages (I might be bored, but not THAT bored), I did come across this official aerial map of North Miami, which highlights the crazy-ass boundaries between North Miami and North Miami Beach, especially along Biscayne Boulevard (which I circled in yellow):
This leaves no doubt in my mind that the original planners for both cities were on drugs. Probably of the hallucinogenic kind.
If someone else has another explanation I’d love to hear it.
Last, but not least, one of my buddies on LeoAffairs posted this comment earlier this evening:
Re: Another shooting
Perfect timing in your blog Stephanie. Last night we had another shooting. But then again, their now a daily occurance so any day you blog about it, more than likely we’ll have one that day.
I’m sure I’ll read all about it in the Herald.
Yeah, right.
That’s all the exciting news from my little corner of the planet on this chilly-by-Miami-standards Saturday night.
I’m obviously still working on getting a life. I’ll keep you posted.

“Spreading the Wealth”
I have yet to see a word about the death of the unicorn in The Miami Herald!
Oh, shiiiiiit. You just made boredom fun again. I’m laughing so freaking hard my stomach hurts.
more evidence that student government is useless and promotes the interests of the administration above the students.
Just go to FIU MMC campus to see what unlimited money and development have done for congestion and ease of parking/access to campus. That campus has various exits and it’s still subject to massive, terrible and annoying vehicular congestion.
While they present this as a means of relieving congestion I don’t buy it. And why should I? Can someone give me an example of successful vehicular de-congestion in an urban environment?
