Big Ben Buys More Time

Big BenThe last time we checked in on the EX-mayor of North Miami Beach on December 16, 2013, Myron Rosner’s FELONY trial was headed for a “plea sounding” on January 17, 2014.  Well, don’t hold your breath.  According to the docket, on December 19, 2013, his CRIMINAL lawyer, Benedict P. Kuehne filed a Motion for Continuance, which resulted in yet another status hearing scheduled this time for March 11, 2014.  It’s unclear whether or not a plea is still on the table.

Talk about kicking the can down the road.  And kicking, and kicking and kicking!

The moral of the story, folks, is that if you ever have the misfortune to get yourself arrested for a felony, your go-to guy is Big Ben Kuehne.

Then again, if you don’t have tons of money to blow on a defense lawyer, or you don’t happen to be married to a CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE, don’t bother looking up Ben’s number.  You’ll have to settle for some run of the mill, affordable CRIMINAL attorney.  Or a public defender if you’re really hard up.

Unfortunately, as with most everything else in life (and especially politics), justice is not a matter of what you do, it’s who you know and what they can do for you.

In the final analysis, it really is all about the money.

Hey, Ben.  I want my tee shirt back.  Here’s a new one.

  1. Do not hold your breath on Mayor Rosner ever serving a day in prison or even being found guilty. Keep in mind you are dealing with a corrupt State Attorney who will only prosecute those who have fallen on hard times and lack money or political power. If you do a bit of investigative work you will find that in the Rosner case the State Attorney put a stop to a search warrant at Rosner’s residence in order not to offend his judge wife. Such action resulted in valuable evidence being destroyed or not collected by local authorities. Another laughable twist in this story is the fact that several Miami-Dade judges “recused” themselves when asked to sign Rosner’s arrest warrant. The warrant was eventually signed by a judge in Broward County. If you remember correctly, Rosner’s political campaigns were ran by Al Lorenzo who also ran the State Attorney’s campaign in 2012. Rosner’s eventual arrest was unnecessarily delayed by the State Attorney’s Office to prevent news outlets from associating Katherine Fernandez-Rundle to Al Lorenzo. More laughable yet is the State Attorney’s Anti-Corruption Task Force, a unit created as a knee jerk reaction to cover up the embarrassment that Fernandez-Rundle, Mayor Gimenez and Esteban Bovo suffered when their absentee ballot scheme was uncovered. Had anyone ever bothered to ask the State Attorney what results the much announced Anti-Corruption Task Force has had in the last year and a half it has been in existence? How about the fact that Mayor Marono of Sweetwater stole for years and no one ever noticed? Of course the State Attorney will never admit that the absentee ballots collected at the three low income buildings and senior center in Sweetwater by Mayor Marono’s mother, Council member Isolina Morono helped get her reelected and influenced her from going after her son. Expect noting from the FBI either. Their corruption unit, headed by an over eager supervisory special agent named John Jimenez negotiated the breakup of the MDPD Corruption Unit with Mayor Carlos Gimenez. As a result, all things corruption in this county are controlled by the State Attorney and Mayor Carlos Gimenez’ FBI protector. Nothing left to do down here. Move to New England where citizens still care about democracy and do not put up with these corruption peddlers.
