Time for some Myron News to take our minds off the mishegas in the Middle East.
As I reported in June of 2011, North Miami Beach EX-mayor Myron Rosner filed a complaint with the Florida Commission on Ethics against his predecessor, former Mayor Raymond Marin. Myron did this after he lost his mayoral seat to current Mayor George Vallejo, and TWO YEARS after Mr. Marin was no longer in office. After Ray lost the election, he simply went back to civilian life and went about his business. Myron, however, was so infuriated that he lost his ONE TERM SEAT, that he filed complaint after complaint against both the man he won the seat from in 2009 and the man who ousted him in 2011. How freaking crazy is that?
All but one of his charges against Mayor Vallejo were dropped. George had to pay a nominal fine for the insanely criminal act of not printing the disclaimer on his very first batch of campaign business size cards. Yeah, that was newsworthy.
As for the complaint he filed against Ray Marin, on July 25, 2012 Melody A. Hadley, Esq., Advocate for the Florida Commission on Ethics, recommended that the Commission “find no probable cause” against Ray Marin. On September 12, 2012, Susan Horovitz Maurer, Chair of the Florida Commission on Ethics, dismissed the complaint.
Myron’s original complaint accused Ray Marin of the “misuse of his position” by “disclosing confidential information on a campaign flyer,” and by violating a Florida Statute by “unilaterally authorizing the sale of beer and wine outside of City-approved hours.”
In the first part of the complaint, Myron actually had the chutzpah to accuse Ray of abusing his power by claiming he bullied a city employee or employees to obtain confidential information and using it against him during the campaign. In a Report issued by Florida Commission on Ethics Investigator Thomas W. Reaves on July 16, 2012, he noted that Myron himself had been accused of exploiting his Official Position in another issue, and that in a public hearing before the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust about Myron’s alleged abuse of power resulted in a deadlock due to a tie vote.
In other words, Myron the Pot, attempts to call the kettle black.
The fact that Myron filed a slew of complaints against the man who ousted him from the mayoral seat only proves he’s a Sore Loser. But who ever heard of filing complaints against someone you beat two years earlier? That would make him…what? A Sore Winner?
His troubles, however, are far from over.
Sources tell me that Myron’s name popped up during all the recent investigations of absentee ballot fraud. North Miami Beach residents have long been aware of Myron’s penchant for collecting absentee ballots during his campaigns. If it does turn out that Myron is somehow implicated in the current scandal, perhaps he wasn’t such a winner after all when he beat Ray in 2009. I’m just saying.
Meanwhile, Myron still has to answer to charges by the Florida Elections Commission about his alleged campaign finance fraud and is currently under investigation for criminal charges for that same issue.
Speaking of that criminal investigation, no one knows for sure what’s going on, and the State Attorney’s Office isn’t talking. There’s quite a bit of speculation, though. When notified of the charges, the first thing Myron did was hire Criminal Attorney to the Political Stars, Ben Keuhne, who also happens to represent ethically-challenged North Miami mayor Andre Pierre in all of his alleged legal woes. Somehow, Attorney Keuhne managed to convince the prosecutor not to issue an arrest warrant for Myron. Since then no information has been forthcoming whatsoever. It has been suggested by “people in the know” that Miami-Dade County’s State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle is reluctant to go after Myron since her office needs to maintain a “friendly” relationship with Myron’s wife, MIAMI-DADE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE SARAH ZABEL. That explanation certainly makes sense, doesn’t it? Just imagine how frustrating it would be for a County prosecutor to try a case before a hostile County Judge with a grudge. I’m just saying.
Perhaps our hope of finally bringing Myron to justice will rest in the power of the Florida Elections Commission, which agency is thankfully not located in Miami-Dade County. From what I’ve heard, the folks up in our State Capital of Tallahassee don’t take too kindly to arrogant, corrupt public officials down here in our little tropical paradise. They also don’t owe MIAMI-DADE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE SARAH ZABEL any favors. I’m just saying.
In addition, I’m told that the Florida Ethics Commission is also reviewing yet another complaint filed against Myron for an entirely different alleged violation. Once I’m at liberty to provide those details you’ll be the first to know.
In any event, Myron’s little complaint-filing rampage against current Mayor George Vallejo and former Mayor Raymond Marin has ended. Game over.
Meanwhile, after his ONE TERM stint as the titular head of the North Miami Beach City Council, Myron Rosner will forever be known as our city’s Worst Mayor Ever. Mazel Tov!
