Our community Church, Fulford United Methodist is having much concern that they won’t be able to fund nor find volunteers for this year’s Christmas Dinner. One issue is the economic hardship affecting a great many who normally participate by sponsoring the meal for those less fortunate. The other reason is because Christmas falls on a Sunday this year and many who would normally volunteer to set the tables and serve the food will be in church for Sunday services. Bert Kehren and I are reaching out to the community, especially those that do not partake in the Christmas holiday to help on Sunday, December 25th for just a few hours. Bert is working on the financial end and I am reaching out to the residents, especially those of the Jewish faith for volunteers. Pastor Burke will be contacting me shortly to let me know the time of day they will decide to serve the meal, but in the meantime I wanted to send this email out so that volunteers can start thinking of scheduling this into their day.
As a community this is a great way to offer ourselves to bring holiday cheer and a warm meal to those less fortunate. Please email me (barbara.kramer@citynmb.com) if you can volunteer as it would be greatly appreciated; besides it would bring us all together during the season of giving. Also please feel free to forward this message to anyone you know that might want to help those in our community on Christmas Day.
All the best,
Barbara Kramer
A very lovely gesture.
