How about a concerted volunteer recruitment effort. In these times of limited resources we should all be pitching in, if only for the selfish reason of preserving our neighborhoods and our quality of life. This blog could be a great tool for this; I know it is a great place for reacting but maybe it could also be a great place for acting.
That’s a great idea that you might want to bring up at the Town Hall Meeting. I did start a column for Sunday Letters to the Blog, which would have been a great place to drum up volunteers for a community project. Unfortunately, the response was underwhelming. It was one of those “seemed like a good idea at the time” moments. But if you have suggestions for such a project, please let me know and I’ll be happy to write about it and try to get volunteers.
A resident just trimmed all of the swale trees along NE 15 Avenue. Depending on how he feels about it I may give you his name so that maybe you can feature him. Robert Taylor is another resident who has done amazing volunteer work at a couple of parks. He alone cleared the area between the Tennis Center and the Monastery turning an overgrown site into a beautiful passive park.
