As we approach our country’s birthday on the fourth of July, please keep in mind that our independence was won by fighting for the right to be free. Thanks to our men and women in uniform we have Freedom from tyranny and suppression. Freedom from taxation without representation. Freedom to practice our respective religions in peace. Freedom to speak our minds and follow our dreams.
The Declaration of Independence, which was approved by Congress on July 4, 1776, is a statement of principles through which the Constitution of the United States is interpreted. The most famous sentence of the Declaration states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
I am proud to be an American and I make no apologies for what I truly believe is American Exceptionalism. Not one day goes by that I don’t feel extreme gratitude for the brave men and women who have unselfishly and courageously donned the uniform of our armed forces to defend our country. Not one day goes by that I don’t mourn our fallen heroes who have given their all to protect our unalienable Rights.
On this Independence Day, while you are enjoying your parties and the fireworks, I ask that all of you take a moment to say a prayer for our troops and their families. I ask that you remember what was fought for and won so that we may celebrate our independence as a free nation. Please take the time to reflect on how much we to be grateful for!

“Spreading the Wealth”
Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing this touching montage. It is a moving reminder that, regardless of our political leanings or views on the wars, those in uniform are someone’s mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons, and many will make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our great country. Whatever our individual complaints, problems and differences, as Americans we do all indeed have much to be grateful for. Thanks! I’m told that the young lady who produced this video is fifteen years old! To me that’s totally amazing. It gives me hope for future generations of Americans. For every teenager we hear of who causes trouble or breaks the law, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young people whose great accomplishments go unsung. The vast majority of teens and young adults truly inspire me!
For every bad news story the media thinks we want to hear, there are hundreds of great stories like this that never get told. Thankfully we hear one from time to time. Truly an inspiration and hope for us all.
